WE REMEMBER
The Symphony Orchestra of Sri Lanka (SOSL) returns to its regular concert schedule this September, with a concert dedicated to the memory of those who lost their lives in the Easter attacks, and in aid of those who live in the aftermath. “We Remember” takes place at the Lionel Wendt theatre on September 15th, and is directed by the SOSL’s resident conductor, Dushyanthi Perera. The concert features music that reflects a range of human emotion and experience, from the heartbreaking Adagio for Strings by Samuel Barber, to the cheerfully optimistic Slavonic Dances by Dvořák.

SOSL - German Masterpiecces
Saturday kicked off the first of five shows for the 62nd season of the Symphony Orchestra of Sri Lanka’s performances. Classical music is a genre which is rarely performed in our little island home but there is also a loyal following of the discipline, most of whom gathered at the Ladies College Hall on the 23rd of February 2019, where the Symphony Orchestra of Sri Lanka performed “German Masterpieces”, featuring the music of Beethoven and Mendelssohn.
SOSL presents some much-needed Christmas Cheer!
Calm your mind and ease your spirit in these tumultuous times by joining the SOSL as they present an evening of traditional carols, modern arrangements and contemporary works to celebrate the festive season. This year’s programme features fresh and unusual arrangements of holiday classics for both chorus and Orchestra.
Masterworks Concert presented by SOSL
Dushyanthi Perera, whose insights into the composer’s vision and knowledge regarding performance technique have helped steer the SOSL to a number of excellent performances, will conduct the SOSL’s Masterworks concert.
Israeli Violinist & Pianist perform at Chamber of Music and SOSL Concerts
A spectacular treat awaits classical music aficionados this April as exquisite works for piano and violin by Bach, Strauss, Beethoven, Grieg, Tchaikovsky, Saint-Saens and Zisapel will be performed by Israeli violinist Hadar Rimon and her mother, pianist Natasha Tadson.
Music Beyond Borders
Melody and music have historically unified people in their search for common ground and peace. At the concert, which coincides with the 70th anniversary of Sri Lanka’s independence as she joins India, already celebrating this great milestone, musicians of both countries will come together in a unifying platform of common passions to showcase a concert of symphonic music.
